Reflection: Matthew 5: 13-16

Here’s a reflection on Matthew 5: 13-16, where Jesus tells his disciples to live as salt and light. With a little re-working, it could inspire a call to worship or closing benediction. It comes from the Starters for Sunday website.

Reflection
(inspired by Matthew 5: 13-16)

Exquisite and down to earth,
luxurious and everyday,
rare and commonplace:
this Christ calls his followers to be.
Called to invade
and infect the neighbourhood,
making a difference by living in light and inviting others
to taste the goodness of God.
God invites us to be
beautiful and attractive,
to flaunt God’s marvellous creation until all are drawn
to God’s wonderful light.
